Kilkenny's Halloween festival is inspired by Alice Kyteler and Petronilla de Meath, from Ireland's first witch trial in 1324. The programme has concerts in St Canice's Cathedral, a mass singalong Witches' Ball, ghost stories, film and talks. The highlight is Cailleach, a free night-time street spectacle by Macnas with giant puppets, drums and fire.
